3-01-03 6:30 pm It was a pretty good week. Work has been busy since the UK project started last week. I've made it through several more discs, although I also bought a few recently - Blu Gender #6, FLCL #2, and Excel Saga #5. The latest Everquest "extension", Legacy of Ykesha, was released this week. It adds a lot of nice new features, including the ability to dye armor. Finally, the various pieces of armor can match! Pics here and here. I also have a couple pics from the Plane of Innovation (1, 2, 3), which was part of the last expansion. Its been a while since I uploaded pics of EQ, so you may notice that the interface has changed a lot. Oh, and for those that care, I have a pic of my kawaii May figure.
2-23-03 11:30 pm I was able to watch several interesting new series, and make progress on ones that still have to finish. Of note: Noir ... this is a very interesting anime revolving around 2 female assassins. It has great music (a lot of French and Italian chorus type music), excellent animation, and a lot of style. This is the kind of series I would show to people who are unfamiliar with anime, as I think it has a lot of appeal for western audiences. Also of interest, little of it so far takes place in Japan; most of the action in the first episodes is in France. Mahoromatic ... the latest GAINAX (Eva, FLCL, etc) release to come stateside. Leave it to GAINAX to make the most unique title in the robot maid/girl genre. On the surface, it is very happy, light, and fun, but there is a more serious plot hidden underneath, with some interesting twists revealed in these early episodes. At the end of each episode, there is a countdown of how many more days until the main character, Mahoro, ceases to function. So, even if an episode ends in a really happy fashion, it is immediately followed by a rather somber message, giving the end of each episode a bittersweet feel. Oh, and a word to, um, easily offended? ... this series has lots of breasts, clothed and naked. More so than any TV series I have ever encountered. It definitely gets it fan service quotient in ... I also now have a very kawaii 1:6 May figure to watch me while I type, lol. So much cuteness .... =P
2-15-03 11:30 pm Well, off to play some more ".hack" before I go to bed. おやすみなさい
2-15-03 1:00 pm こんいちは、みなさん!(Konnichi ha mina-san! Good day, everyone! It is a pretty good day here. I have to go pick up my Zelda pre order disc soon, should be fun. Though, I have been playing .hack//INFECTION (review coming soon) a lot, so I don't know how much time I will have to spend with the preorder disc. If anyone cares, since starting my workout routine / sensible eating back in November, I have lost almost 25 lbs, and have been able to tighten by two more belt loops, lol. It felt good this morning to be able to put on a pair of pants that had previously become uncomfortably tight. I still have about 10 - 15 lbs until I am where I want to be, but it is nice to be seeing this progress.
2-11-03 10:10 pm Unfortunately, I have not spent any time on the 3rd page yet. I just have to discipline myself, sit down, and start sketching. Well, my typing skills seem to be sucking tonight (after the hundredth backspace on the above few sentences) so I am off for a little light reading and bed. Peace, dawgs.
2-10-03 8:50 pm I watched the first disc of "Banner of the Stars", which is the sequel series to "Crest of the Stars". Crest was a series that so captured my imagination with the first disc that I immediately went out, purchased the rest of the series, and watched them immediately. The appeal of it is twofold for me. First, it is probably the most "realistic" of space battles I have seen. That is to say, while it does use fictional theories to support interstellar travel, within the confines of these theories you see the execution of realistic tactics. It is very well done. Second, and more important, the characters are very intriguing, and developed very well. When "Crest" was over, I looked forward to seeing more of the main characters, and was glad that "Banner" was being released without too much of a wait. "Banner" takes place 3 years after the events of "Crest", 3 years into a war that began during "Crest." The war has a very epic feel, and once again it feels like it is a real interstellar war. I really enjoyed this first disc, it is too bad that there are only 2 more discs left. These anime are based on a series of books, so maybe some day the books will be translated and brought to the US ...
2-9-03 9:10 pm I am listening to the "Arjuna" soundtrack as I write this, and I am reminded how much I enjoy the work of the talented Japanese composer Yoko Kanno. She is one of the more famous Japanese composers, and is responsible for the wonderful score of many series such as "Escaflowne" and "Cowboy Bebop". It is rather imagination inspiring music, really. The type of stuff I'd listen to to get in a creative mood. Speaking of a creative mood, I hope to complete the third page of World Domination this week. Of course, the comic will start to go slower now (or rather, take more time to draw), as I will have to start drawing people not in silhouette, lol. While it does take time, I look forward to it. I like creating; I feel more "at home", more myself when I create. Sometimes I wish I could be doing something with my life where I got to regularly exercise my creative self. Ah well.

2-1-03 As I gradually update the site, please let me know (in the forums, WDO feedback) anything I had on here in the previous version that you think should stay. Otherwise, I will be eliminating a lot of old content. No luck finding a blogger, so I guess I will continue to do these entries by hand. My ASP is a little rusty, maybe I will pick up a book, and code some automation for myself .. or learn PHP, which would probably be better. It would help automating the comic too ... I need to sketch one more frame of Page 2, then shade ... plan to finish it today. 1-31-03 Comic links will go in the left side bar for now.
